Garden design and management, Cambridgeshire

The person who designs your garden should be the one who looks after it.

For private gardens and estates that want a head gardener's knowledge, without employing one. There is room for one or two more gardens on retained care, and design work is by waiting list only for now.

Join the waiting list Places are offered to the list before they are published anywhere else. The work is long term, so once a retained place is taken it rarely comes back.

Thinking in decades, not days.

What is different

Designed and kept by the same hands

Most gardens are designed by one firm and maintained by another, and the intent is lost within a season. Here the design and the care come from the same person.

Every plant known by name

You will know what is growing, why it is there and what it needs through the year. Ask about anything and get a proper answer.

Head gardener standard, every visit

No rotating crews learning your garden on your time. Consistent, considered care that notices what has changed since last time.

Eighteen years in professional horticulture

“He listened to my preferences for color and style then incorporated his expertise in what would grow best and how to lay out the space… for years to come.”

How the list works

  1. 1

    Five short questions

About your garden and what you want from it. Two minutes at most.

  2. 2

    Read personally

Every reply is read by Michael, not a sales team.

  3. 3

    You hear first

When a place suits your garden, you are offered it before anyone else.

First, a little about you.

So I know who I am speaking to and roughly where.

Choose the closest.

Question 2 of 5

What would you most like from the person who looks after it?

Choose the one that matters most.

Question 3 of 5

What has gone wrong with gardeners you have used before?

Be as candid as you like. Nobody else reads this.

Question 4 of 5

Which level of care sounds right for your garden?

There is no wrong answer. It helps me plan which gardens I can take on.

Question 5 of 5

Is there anything else I should know?

Access, timings, a plant you love or cannot stand.

Thank you

You are on the list.

I read every reply myself, and you will hear back by email. If a place suits your garden, it is yours to take before it is offered anywhere else.
